PADI Mobile App — Design Alignment Brief

An overview of the proposed design approach, the collaboration and ownership model, and the next steps for the PADI mobile app design track.

01
PURPOSE

What we want to align on

Aligning on how the mobile design track runs — the approach, who owns what, and what we do next.

On the agenda
  • Proposed design approach for the PADI mobile app
  • Collaboration and ownership model between the PADI and Axelerant design teams
  • Design review, feedback, iteration and handoff approach
  • Tentative high-level design sequence
  • How we move forward with the mobile design track
Desired outcome

Establish a shared way of working for the mobile design track — and align on the immediate next steps.

02
APPROACH

Start with structure, then refine

Validate the structure in grayscale before styling, then layer on PADI's visual language, states and interactions to reach a hi-fi build.

Structure Validate Refine Finalize
01

Grayscale wireframes

Validating
  • Information architecture
  • User flows
  • Screen structure
  • Content hierarchy
  • Navigation
02

Design review & iteration

Aligning
  • Review with relevant stakeholders
  • Gather and incorporate feedback
  • Validate the UX direction
  • Iterate on flows and structure
03

Hi‑fi design

Refining
  • Apply PADI visual language & design system
  • Refine UI and interaction patterns
  • Address accessibility considerations
  • Build out relevant states & interactions
04

Handoff & support

Shipping
  • Finalize designs
  • Document behaviours and states
  • Developer handoff
  • Design support during implementation
Hi-fi design progression will follow the sprint plans as they are finalized.
03
COLLABORATION

Ownership & how we split the work

Axelerant leads execution end-to-end; PADI directs, gives feedback, and holds final sign-off.

WORKING TOGETHER

The collaboration rhythm

How a design moves from exploration to handoff, with PADI plugged in at agreed review points.

01

Explore

Axelerant explores the UX direction based on the agreed scope and sprint priorities.

02

Review

Design work is shared with PADI at agreed review points.

03

Align

Feedback, design decisions and open questions are discussed collaboratively.

04

Iterate

Axelerant incorporates agreed feedback and progresses the designs.

05

Finalize

Designs are aligned and prepared for development and handoff.

ROADMAP

A directional design sequence

How the diver journey is sequenced for design. Order is shown; dates are deliberately left open until scope is settled.

This is a directional design sequence — not a dated roadmap.

On timeline

We do not have a dated roadmap or timelines until the discussions around scope are concluded and dependencies are resolved. Once we have internal alignment on scope and sprint sequencing, we'll establish and share the detailed roadmap with timelines.

06
NEXT STEPS

What happens after this

Once we confirm the design approach, collaboration model and ownership, we start moving.

01

Begin grayscale wireframing based on the tentative sprint scope and plan.

02

Share the initial design work with the PADI team for review and alignment.

03

Set up regular design review meetings with PADI to review progress, gather feedback and align on decisions.

04

Iterate on the designs based on the agreed feedback and continue progressing through the tentative sprint scope.

05

As scope and sprint sequencing are finalized, establish the detailed design roadmap and timelines.
